The parks in Broken Arrow, OK, offer visitors loads of activities all year round. From sports activities and miles of trails to fishing, boating, and horseback riding. Here is something to do for everyone in the family all year round.
1. Haikey Creek Park
The 151-acre park with its pretty little creek is known for the beautiful big trees that provide ample shade for picnics. Here families and friends get together for disc golf, leisurely strolls down the walking trail, and outdoor barbecues at the picnic area.
There are picnic tables, shelters, grills, and enough open space for kids to burn off energy. The playground and the restrooms are also close by. The 2-mile loop trail that runs through the park is mostly in the shade and suitable for all skill levels. The park has two tennis courts, four soccer fields, three lighted softball fields, six pickleball courts, and an outdoor fitness court.
2. Ray Harral Nature Center and Park
The 40-acre park offers rustic wooden walkways and a suspension bridge for scenic strolls through the forest. Three miles of dirt and wooden trails meander through the forest and flowering gardens with plenty of benches along the way. Bring your picnic basket and enjoy a bite to eat at one of the picnic tables or shelters.
You and your family can also learn more about the indigenous wildlife at the Nature Center. The educational displays are changed regularly, and programs and events are held throughout the year. The center hosts field trips and outdoor classrooms. Pets are welcome but must be kept on a leash.
3. Veteran's Park
This beautifully landscaped park in the middle of the city commemorates American women who served their country with the black granite Women's War memorial. The park also has two impressive sculptures: the American Patriot and the sculpture of Ernest “Chief” Childers.
The Childers sculpture is on the Smithsonian Art Inventory list. The centerpiece of the park is a beautiful fountain with colored lights that attract nightly visitors. The park, with its rolling lawns, has picnic facilities, benches, and a pond.
