Trim Levels of the 2023 Ford Ranger

The Ford Ranger needs very little introduction. The first Ranger rolled off the production lines in 1982, and this ever-popular model is now in its fourth generation. This year, there are three trims for you to choose from. Let's take a close look at what they have to offer.

Trim Levels of the 2023 Ford Ranger

Common to All Trims

Before we dive into the individual specifications, we'll look at the items that are common to all of them. First up, all trims share the same tough, rugged, yet light-on-gas 2.3L EcoBoost 4-cylinder gas engine. This engine is paired with a 10-speed SelectShift automatic transmission to give you smooth and flawless shifting regardless of terrain.

All trims offer the option of two or four-wheel drive and a choice between SuperCrew or SuperCab. SuperCrew increases the number of passengers from four to five, and the SuperCab option gives you a larger bed.

XL Trim

The XL sits on 16" silver steel wheels, and you have the option to increase to 17" silver or gloss black aluminum wheels. Automatic on/off halogen headlights light your way at night, and a stylish black mesh grille with surround is guaranteed to draw the eye. The interior features an eight-way manual driver's seat and a six-way manual front passenger seat.

A 2.3" productivity screen in the instrument cluster can be upgraded to a 4.2" LCD screen. In addition, you can add an 8" LCD infotainment touchscreen to the center stack. Single-zone climate control will help to keep you comfortable despite the outside weather. Safety features include pre-collision assist, emergency braking, and you can add lane-keeping assist and automatic high beam control.

XLT Trim

This trim includes everything in the XL and adds additional features like 17" silver steel wheels, remote keyless entry, and a six-speaker audio system. The climate control is upgraded to dual-zone automatic temperature control. Power exterior mirrors replace the manual ones in the XL. The 8" infotainment screen is standard, and Apple CarPlay and Android Auto are installed.

The steering wheel is black urethane like the XL, but you can upgrade it to a leather wrap. A power-locking tailgate makes accessing the bed easier.

Lariat Trim

As the highest trim, you get all the standard fittings of the XLT and even more. LED headlights, tail lights, and fog lamps are installed. The wheels are upgraded to 18" and have all-terrain tires. The driver's seat is now eight-way power-assisted, and the front passenger seat is six-way power-assisted. Leather-trimmed upholstery replaces the premium cloth XLT upholstery.

A rear parking sensor is standard, together with a manual-sliding rear window and auto-dimming rearview mirror. As an option, you can upgrade to a 10-speaker Bang and Olufsen audio system if you choose the SuperCab option.

All the trims have even more to discover when you get behind the wheel. Call us today at Matthews Ford to book your test drive.

Some competitors have a third row that's too cramped for adults to tolerate, so its comfort is a major plus for the Explorer. There's also a lot of space in the cabin for cargo when you fold down the second and third rows. You can fit approximately 31 carry-on suitcases back there. The regular cargo area behind the third row holds around four carry-on suitcases. Highly Pleasant Interior The Explorer's interior has some nice features that make spending time in the cabin feel fantastic. A twin-panel moonroof is available for stunning views, lots of natural daylight, and plenty of fresh air. Multi-color ambient lighting allows you to adjust the lighting to suit your mood, and it's particularly enjoyable to use while driving at night and while listening to music. A 12-speaker B&O sound system is available, perfect for those of you who love your tunes. You can access plenty of music streaming apps on the vertical 10.1-inch LCD infotainment screen, which has a customizable display. Bold Exterior Styling Although the Explorer is a nice family SUV, it has a bold look that's difficult to ignore. All of the models have a squared appearance that looks bold, and the eye-catching grille with the Ford emblem right in the middle is difficult to miss on the road. Excellent Towing Capacity The first two trims of the Explorer can tow up to 5,300 pounds. If you need more strength, then getting one of the last three trims will let you tow up to 5,600 pounds instead. You need the Class IV Trailer Tow Package to achieve the maximum towing capacity. As well as that, a Terrain Management System is standard and has a tow/haul mode for easier towing. Are you ready to come and take a look at the Explorer up close?
